Wood Finishing Prep Lead for Cabinet Doors and Drawer Boxes
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Wood Finish Prep Lead. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that all our wood cabinetry components are properly sanded and prepped for finishing with paint or stain. The roles under this lead will include: Polish Sander, Prep for Paint Sander, Prep for Stain Sander, Finishing Sander and operation of a Cosmo Sander which is a robotic sander. This is a ‘working’ leadership role. This position requires a strong understanding and knowledge of the various types of wood sanding required within a cabinetry shop, along with someone who can lead, motivate and direct a team to ensure quality standards are met, production efficiency and schedules are met as well as standard operating procedures are followed. The ability to problem solve, find and repair defect and maximize efficiency is necessary.
Duties
- Leadership of the department
- Full utilization of the Cosmo Robotic sander for maximum efficiency.
- Collaborate with other Department Leads for smooth continual flow of products.
- Create and write SOPs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the department.
- Train and cross train employees in department.
- Ensure quality product that meets production schedules.
Skills
- Knowledge of different wood species
- Strong knowledge of wood sanding processes with the experience to oversee orbital sanding, puttying, scratch removal and robotic sanding processes.
- Ability to read material sheets to ensure correctness of orders
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members and supervisors.

Hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. with overtime as required.
