Even Tones. Consistent Appearance.
Keystone Wood Specialties new exclusive ELITE staining process greatly reduces the potential for an inconsistent, blotchy look that can occur when staining wood species like Maple – especially when using dark stains. The naturally tight grain pattern and density variation of Maple can result in stain absorbing unevenly, which can cause a more noticeable difference between light and dark tones across the wood component.
Our new two-step ELITE staining process minimizes that density variation. You’ll get a very smooth and even tone on each individual cabinetry component and a more consistent appearance across all the components within that order.
The ELITE staining process is now our standard staining process for maple cabinet doors, drawer fronts and other maple wood components. The ELITE staining process is also recommended for use on Alder, Pine and Birch orders. Custom stain matching using the ELITE staining process is available.

NOTE: Unless otherwise requested, the ELITE staining process will be used on the fronts and sides of cabinet doors and drawer fronts, with a wiping stain process used on the backs. If you need your Maple component order stained using our previous process, we can accommodate this. Please contact our Customer Service team at 717.299.6288 for assistance in placing that order.
