Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Wood Finishing Department Lead to oversee our Wood Components Finishing Department. Our Finishing Department is responsible for finishing wood cabinet doors, drawer fronts, moulding, wainscoting and other cabinetry-related wood products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in color matching, mixing, spraying, staining and glazing to ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality. This role requires excellent leadership capabilities to guide a team while maintaining a focus on safety, productivity, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the department’s daily operations, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
  • Oversee the operations within the department and ensure flow of product.
  • Conduct quality inspections throughout the production process to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Ability to read customer order paperwork.
  • Train new employees and provide cross training for coverage during vacations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement in processes and workflows.
  • Train and mentor team members on best practices
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures for all roles and update as needed.
  • Order paint/stain and supplies for the department as needed
  • Responsible for cleanliness, upkeep, filter changes etc. within the department.
  • High degree of detail required.

Experience

  • Proven experience in a wood finishing role is required!
  • Familiarity with quality inspection processes and precision measuring instruments is essential.
  • Experience in writing SOP’s
  • Must be able to distinquish colors
  • Prior experience in a leadership role is preferred.

Hour are generally 6:00 a.m. 2:30 p.m. with required OT when necessary.
