Woodworker Rough Mill Saw and Jointer Operator

Keystone Wood Specialities is hiring for a Rough Mill Saw/Jointer Operator. This position requires someone who has woodworking experience and can accurately identify different wood species and accurately measure. In this role you will be responsible for reading material sheets, selection of appropriate lumber and accurately cutting the boards to size. You would also be responsible for set up and operation of a jointer and glueing panels. An eye for detail is required.

Essential Functions

  • Operation of saw to cut wood to proper lengths and the ability to match grain of lumber as well as knowledge of wood species. Set-up jointer for squareness and depth of cut, approximately 1/32”.
  • Remove panels from cart and joint all edges except “Marked” edge.
  • Check panels for tightness of joint, quality of material, and correct number of pieces.
  • Re-stack jointed panel pieces onto cart for glue clamp. Glue clamp product per specs.
  • Move carts into and out of area.
  • Keep area in a neat and orderly manner at all times.
  • Ability to operate various other equipment in the Rough Mill such as edge bander, panel saw etc. a plus. Must also be willing to ‘catch’ on ends of saws.
  • Perform any other duties as may be necessary for maintaining daily functions and general well-being of the business and its employees.

  • Regular and consistent attendance required.
  • Knowledge of wood species and accurately be able to read a tape measure.
  • Adheres to all company safety policies, written program procedures and standards at all times.
  • Provide training as needed for the purpose of on boarding or cross-training other employees.
  • Adhere to all SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and Quality Standards

  • Willing to cross train with other positions within the rough mill.

Previous woodworking and saw experience required. Only qualified applicants will be considered.

This is a full-time, day-shift position. Monday-Friday 6:00 a.m. 2:30 p.m. Overtime as required.
